"Gaza Fights For Freedom" documentary

We had over 30 for the "Gaza Fights For Freedom" documentary at the Mtn. View Studio this Saturday night. Steve Romine (Woodstock Truth Squad MONDAYS, 7-10 pm, WIOF 104.1 FM) organized it, and Vets for Peace cosponsored.

We picked up about 25 signatures for the Delgado petition on the rights of children in Palestine.

Thanks to Steve for setting this up.

Seventy years of Palestinian occupation and suffering

We passed out over 200 flyers to a receptive crowd at the Hudson Farmers' Market. People stopped to talk about Palestine, and not a negative word was said. We have been doing farmers' markets for at least six years, and they get less and less stressful. Maybe now is the time for educating people about the seventy years of Palestinian occupation and suffering, all supported and paid for by the US.

The event is free. Seating is limited. Register at http://bit.ly/Fithian.

Lisa gave a great talk, and read a part of her book that covered the Gaza Freedom March, a trip that several of us in the audience had participated in. The action was the shutting down of Tahrir Square, and several hundred of us had done the action with Lisa.

The event in Rhinebeck was poorly attended. Possibly we should have held one book signing rather than two. Also, Rhinebeck is not known for its activism.

Film Showing August 9

-Friday, August 9 from 7-9 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Catskills, 320 Sawkill Rd, Kingston. Film Showing: “The ISIS Trial” plus special guest, filmmaker Ellie Bernstein. Evidence shows that these young men had no propensity for violence. Why did they want to join ISIS? This documentary takes a look at why young men with no criminal background would be attracted to join a terrorist organization. Was it because the FBI planned and bankrolled the operation? We had a good turnout for this event with Ellie Bernstein. There were over 25 in the audience with many new faces. Question and answer with Ellie went well.
